A New Look For The New Curriculum

Ram Rajni Lagutan

We are seeing a whole lot of new changes in school since class started. There’s the new k-12 curriculum, new teachers, new teaching styles (no more homework!) and… brand new uniforms!

Not all GSCS students will be wearing the new uniform at once. Only those in Nursery, Grade 1 and Grade 7 levels will get the chance to wear the new green-and-white uniform this year. Then, next year the incoming students in those levels will wear the new uniform. This will go on every year, and eventually every GSCS student will be wearing the new uniforms. So it’s a gradual goodbye to the familiar red-and-white uniform, and hello to the green-and-white. Incidentally, all eight schools in the Roman Catholic Bishop of Novaliches Educational System (RCBN-ES) are adopting this new uniform. So don’t be surprised when you see another student, not from GSCS, who is wearing exactly the same uniform as you are.

As mentioned, the colors of the new uniform are white and green. The blouse is still white like before, while the skirt (for the girls) and the pants (for the boys) will be green.

Opinions about the new uniform vary. Some prefer the previous design and colors, while others are delighted by the change. Some parents are concerned about the added expense, especially those who have many children enrolled in GSCS and already have several sets of the old uniform. But as they say, change is inevitable. So let’s just roll with it and be happy.
