By Jenelyn Placido and Marie Gabrielle Bernabe

The University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) established Sabayang Pagbigkas 2013 for August "Buwan ng Wika" last August 30, 2013. It was the first time that GSCS would be participating in this kind of interschool competition against 27 schools, who joined for the elimination. Only 4 schools will be included in the finals.
The chosen students of GSCS who represented the school, were: Hannah Castro, Seika Ishii, Golda Sanchez, Noreen Flores, Frances Golon, Seiya Ishii, Rachelin Flores, Wilvena Interia, Christlyn Macatangcay, William Solomon, Michael Ruiz, Bea Reyes, Michael Alcantara, Marie Gabrielle Bernabe, Jan Ivan Gordola, Bea Dimabuyu, Isabelle Alverez, Marc Dumlao, Marianne Palita, Faye Cruz and Jenelyn Placido. Their coaches: Sir Marco Lovendino, T. Sharisse Rivera and T. Mary Rose Hernandez.          The two Filipino poems that the participants could chase from were Andres Bonifacio’s “Pag-ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa and Dr. Jose Rizal’s “Pahimakas”. The GSCS coaches chose Bonifacio’s piece that he wrote during the Philippine Revolution.
After weeks of practice and staying after school, the day of the competition came. The other participants were well experienced performers from different schools that put up a fight for GSCS.

At the end of the event, perseverance was not enough to bridge the gap experience placed.
